I’m a little slow to post an update here – being a teacher right before Christmas break is pretty busy, and then I had to stay off the Internet until I saw Star Wars (more on that later).
Early last week, the fourth issue of Nonlocal Science Fiction was released online, featuring my short story “Rational Control.” My snappy tagline for the story is: What happens when a writer’s muse goes too far? For a little more context, the story focuses on a non-corporeal entity whose role is to encourage creative people in their pursuits; when its current charge looks like he’s going to give up for good, the entity takes drastic measures to make sure that doesn’t happen. It’s definitely a weirder story than my previous work, but it was super fun to write, and Nonlocal is an excellent magazine, to boot.
