I mentioned the other day that Goodreads has launched a new Q&A platform where you can send questions to popular authors and (hopefully) receive a response. These can sometimes be disappointing if the author never gets back to you, but if the speed with which Kevin J. Anderson got back to me is any indication, Goodreads is actually an effective way to talk directly to your favorite authors. Anderson responded very promptly to two of my questions, which concerned Disney’s decision to label the past thirty years of Star Wars novels as non-canon and the best method to get into writing for established franchises.
I’ve sent a variety of questions to other authors, concerning writing and publication tips. If I hear any more responses, I’ll be sure to pass on their advice.
